For almost twenty-five years, I’ve watched in amazement as Karen turns our home into a Winter Wonderland during the holidays. And if you ever hear that I’ve fallen off the house because of hanging Christmas lights, it’s because of my love for Karen and guilt for not doing more to help her.
We took over 100 pictures of the boys after the Saturday Night Services. Karen didn’t want me to put this picture of us on the blog, but I insisted. I wanted to “show her off” during the holidays because she’s always decorated my life by making a home for both me and my sons.
I want to take this time to encourage all of our families to celebrate the special events in our lives like holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. These are the times when we create GREAT MEMORIES for our children. I remember growing up with my siblings and seeing Mama try to make Christmas the best she could for us. She started putting our gifts on layaway each August. She took five dollars out of the grocery money every week to pay on our Christmas layaway since my Dad was a preacher, a very broke preacher, who was always giving his salary back to the church or simply not taking a salary at all.
Let me encourage all you Moms and Dads to make a conscious effort to create a lasting memory for your family during these holidays. Begin to make your own personal family traditions that will outlive you through your children and grandchildren.
The Staff will be giving tours of the NEW Building, so call the office and make an appointment for a private tour. You’ll love it and the Staff will enjoy doing it for you.
Check in tomorrow on our blog and see the pictures we’ll have posted of our new pavilion on the property.
We love and appreciate what Chuck Laney and his family are sacrificing in order to build the new pavilion in time for us to have our Christmas in Appalachia Event for The LORD’S Child.
